*Announcements and recap:
– Staci sent out a solicitation email to a handful of instructional academic staff members asking if they would consider filling our empty spot. One person responded but requested more info before agreeing. Ben agreed to help recruit another male member.
– Linda still needs to post the minutes from the first meeting and get website access for other members. She will also forward "welcome committee" info to Bex.
– Bex will share out the 07-08 academic staff survey.
– Nancy and Ben both mentioned that their units have a performance review plan document/process and will share with Bex for the performance review proposal committee to review.
– Ben reminded everyone that the results of the acad staff survey is what prompted the formation of the CASI committees and especially the performance review guidelines project. Ben recalled that Fran gave the resulting CASI presentation to APC about the need for each unit/dept to do performance reviews and that people at the time agreed that one size did not fit all.
*Annual Summary Report: send any additions from the past year to Ann H so that she can finish and publish the report.
*CASI rep (TBD) will bring report to APC at its December meeting
*We still need someone to be the CASI rep to APC (Linda, possibly)
*Nothing to report from Oct APC meeting
*Committees:
– Professional Development Grant subcommittee: Nancy will join. Deadline for apps is Nov. 1. Staci is collecting them (only 2 so far) and will share with subcommittee that will meet in early Nov. The Dean approved funds to start a classified staff professional development grant, but since a classified staff committee hasn't formed yet, the classified staff reps who will be reviewing those grant proposals will meet with the CASI grant committee to learn from them.
– Outreach/Welcome subcommittee: Ben will join. Ben and Bex will meet Monday, Oct. 17 to start reviewing welcome packet/info. The Outreach/Welcome committee will come up with a plan for a quarterly email blast with news links and resources and ask for questions/concerns. Ben and Bex are also looking into whether to have a social event for all SoE ac staff with new ac staff intros/welcome, and a suggestion box.
– Performance Review subcommittee: Ben will come to meeting on Oct 24 to provide more institutional memory. Linda noted that there are performance review "tips" on the CASI website.
*Misc: maybe it's time to do another survey of academic staff? CASI should be reporting back its work to all academic staff since we represent them. We need to remind them that they can attend any CASI meeting but maybe we should have a once-a-year or twice-a-year CASI meeting that specifically has an open forum for all ac staff.
